The owners of Moon, a popular bar and restaurant at number 63 on the High Street, have converted it into two separate places, which opened recently - My Place, a bar, and Cántaro, a Mexican restaurant.
We always liked going to Moon, and they've done a really nice job with the new places. Haven't been into My Place yet, but we went to Cántaro for lunch on Saturday, and it was *fantastic*. Beckenham has never been short of cafes and brunch places, but we've long needed a Mexican place, and this one delivers. Pictured, one of their excellent margaritas, and my chicken quesadillas which were superb and very reasonably priced:
They've got a proper kids' menu coming in a week or so, but were happy to make something from scratch for our kid, who was very happy with it (and sleepy afterwards).
We paid for our own bill, they didn't know I'd be posting anything here or who I was, and were really lovely with us.
And now I'm hungry again just thinking about it.
